Week 10: Art in Public Spaces and Sculpture Under the Sea.

This week we will be thinking of how sculpture can bring art to our community, and encourage plant and animal life.

Today's activities:

  1. Draw a design for an underwater sculpture that could become a human-made reef. Create a design that is right for its function. Consider how to design the work using environmental friendly materials.

  2. Draw a design for a monumental work of public art for a specific space in your city or town.

If you are to draw with me today, draw on your own time and submit your artwork to apoemreadsoftly@gmail.com. If you can come to virtual class, have a pencil and some paper ready and I'll see you at 4!

Hi there!

I hope you’re excited to explore nature today. We will be making pine cone bird feeders. Watch this video with a parent or caretaker to learn how you can make one! If you and your family make one, take some pictures of you and your feeder and share them with me at tonycarterhill@gmail.com so I can post them on this page. I hope you enjoy!

P.S. There are two tall pine trees where Centre St. and Spring Park Ave. meet and many more around Jamaica Plain and the Emerald Necklace. I hope you enjoy!
